Suspension of play until January

First, the Executive would like to extend our appreciation to all of the clubs for their efforts to follow and adhere to the safety plan during our first weeks of play. We recognize this requires extra work for everyone in the clubs, not just for games, but practices as well.

However, based on the continuation of travel restrictions, we have decided to suspend play until January. The current restrictions are until December 7 and this would leave only the last weekend of play on December 12/13. We felt it best to start fresh in January and limit everyone's exposure as much as possible during this second wave.

Thank you and stay well,

Cindy Sacré

VWFHA President

VWFHA will be paused until November 23
Hello Everyone,

The VWFHA will be paused until November 23 in accordance with the terms and intent of the latest statements from Dr. Henry. This is also what the Vancouver Men's Field Hockey League has implemented.

Yes, it does not restrict outdoor sports, yet, the intent was clear. As much as we all love hockey, it is a non-essential activity. The purpose of the restrictions is to limit our social interactions. This will to start to reduce the number of positive cases of COVID-19 Also, the request to limit non-essential travel even between Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health certainly applies to our membership demographics.

We encourage our members to embrace the spirit and intent of the guidelines as well as continue to practice social distancing, wearing of masks and frequent handwashing.

For clubs and teams continuing to train during the pause, again, please follow the guidelines in place to the letter. A return to socially distanced practices is highly recommended as this again limits transmission opportunities.

As further information becomes available from the PHO and FHBC, we will keep you notified of our return to league play plans.

Thank you and stay well,

Cindy Sacré
